My love of baking started like many of young girls of the 60's...my Easy Bake Oven. I always looked forward to my mom making a cake so I could have some batter to make my own cake in my oven. As I got older my mom would let me make cookies and cakes when I was bored during those long winters in upstate New York.
My first introduction to cake decorating was one day when I was watching "Dialing for Dollars." They had a man on that made a cone out of paper, filled it with icing, clipped the end and demonstrated how to decorate a cake. I was fascinated. I picked up my first Wilton book in 1979, a bag and some tips and tried my hand at decorating cake. I made my sister in laws wedding cake the following year. I enjoyed making my son and two daughters' birthday cakes over the years, but I didn't think seriously about making cakes as a business until watching the Food Network cake challenges with my idols Bronwen Weber and Duff Goldman. Until then I had not realized what a great medium cake was. I had a background in crafts, painting, wood carving, and cake was just another medium to work with.
I have wonderful support from my husband Randal, my children BJ, Melinda and Brittney. I also have wonderful customers who let me use my imagination to come up with cakes for them.
I hope you enjoy my website, and those who have tasted, enjoyed my cake. Check back often because the cakes are updated often. If you have questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me through my contact page.
